The RAF 2000 was designed by Canadian rotary aircraft designer and pioneer Bernard J. Haseloh. It went on the market in 1989 as a kit aircraft that could be built in 150 to 250 hours.
Kits were first manufactured by Rotary Air Force Marketing Inc. of Canada. In 2007 the marketing and manufacturing rights were sold to UMRTC Eben Mocke, Northern Cape, South Africa, and complete kits are available from Rotary Air Force SA for around $45,000 USD.
Unlike other autogyros the 2000 GTX was originally designed without a horizontal stabilizer, although some including G-CBIT have been subsequently retro-fitted with a small stabilizer to improve directional stability.
The RAF 2000 is one of only a few autogyros with type approval from the Light Aircraft Association in the United Kingdom.
